New Castore ambassador, Patrick Reed

Team Castore - April 01, 2021

Patrick Reed, currently the number 7 golfer in the world, is a Major Champion, 9- Time PGA Tour Winner, World Golf Champion and Olympian. He has represented the United States in three Ryder Cups and is frequently called “Captain America” from some rather exciting, and heroic matches in Ryder Cup history. He also has represented the United States in three President’s Cups. He kicks off a ten-year deal making him the newest and latest athlete to join Castore’s team of elite-athletes.

Patrick Reed is the first American to be signed by Castore. Reed is not only a PGA Tour Player but also has been aEuropean Tour player since 2015 and is one of only four Americans to receive an Honorary Lifetime Membership on the European Tour following his victory at The Masters in 2018. The other three Americans to receive such an honor were: Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Tom Watson. Recently, Robert MacIntyre, a world-class golfer himself and fellow European Tour player said, “I wouldn’t say there are more than two Americans that are more approachable than Patrick Reed…He’s a gem of a guy.”

“I love playing on the European Tour as well as all over the world. I am an American, but I consider myself more than an American golfer, I consider myself a World-Wide golfer. I love playing in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and so many places and countries around the world. Castore was a natural fit for me because they embody core values of every athlete. I absolutely love their products and what they stand for, “Better Never Stops.”

Between a win and a title defence, how does winning feel?

Winning is a feeling of complete satisfaction when the ball drops into the cup for a victory- it’s like a huge burst of happiness, gratitude, and excitement from your heart, but that satisfaction is only temporary until the next time you win. Winning is the greatest feeling on earth, but that is why it must be a temporary feeling of satisfaction, because you have to continue to work hard every single day to have that moment again, and those moments are irreplaceable in my mind and in my heart.

In a title defense, you have confidence because you have won that event, but at the same time your game has to be sharp to win. it gets you right back on track to focusing on playing the golf course and not getting too relaxed out there,” said Reed

How you do continuously elevate your game?

When it’s all said and done, I want to look back and say I achieved every goal I wanted to achieve in golf and in life, and that is what keeps me grounded and motivated. I love my family, my time with my wife and children are the happiest times of my life, and golf is also and will always be one of the happiest times of my life.

“And I think when you put in the work and the time, and you build confidence in yourself, and you put yourself in the position to win by sheer hard work- you should win. It doesn’t mean you will or you won’t but I will never stop trying, regardless. That’s why Castore is such a great fit. They understand what it takes as an Athlete to perform, to be the best, to play your best, and to continue to be at the top of the game not just for a year, but for ten years, for 20 years. I understand, “Better Never Stops” because as an athlete, I believe that all athletes have that inner fire in them, and Castore is helping every athlete in the world perform their best because they understand Athletes and they know what it takes to be the best in the world and they also understand their needs, from working out, to leisure and recovery time, to performance. And it shows in all of their products and in their team.

How do you recover from a mistake during a game?

I’ve learned over the years that you simply just have to have a short memory, but that’s easier said than done. That’s why golf is such a fascinating game too, because there are so many shots. The challenge to make a recovery shot, to pull off a great shot after a terrible shot is what makes the game so much fun. I’ve never been much of a complainer, or dwell on things during a round- there’s just no time for it in my opinion. When I’m playing my best, I kind of let bad shots roll of my shoulder and try to look at things as a challenge and an opportunity to utilize my short game.

Do you have any motto or mantra, for yourself in life?

“Better Never Stops”

“Tough times don’t last, tough people do.”

“Believe”

Castore founder Tom Beahon said: “[Reed] is a man who is living proof that years of practice and dedication will pay off immensely - he has lived and breathed the game of golf since the day he was born. Patrick is the embodiment of the Castore philosophy to sport.”
