Read on to hear more about what he had to say...

Talk us through your career as a coach and an athlete?

I have been coaching now for the last 14 years, initially starting out in GP referral working with clients with controlled conditions, before moving into more sports specific coaching. During this time, I have worked with elite athletes in track, field, and combat sports. Over the last 8 years, I have held down head coach roles at some of London's leading clubs with the main purpose of my role being to focus on identifying areas for improvement and building out new programming and group sessions across boxing and conditioning for members. Since the start of this year, I have been coaching boxing and conditioning sessions at BXR at their Marylebone and City sites.

My career as an athlete started at the age of 10. I spent 8 years competing in amateur boxing and track, before moving onto training and competing in MMA for 10 years. Once I stepped away from competitive combat sport, I switched my focus back to track and have been running to a high level competing in long distance events, marathons, ultra marathons, and trail running, as well as regularly competing in the Hyrox mens pro division.

What is your proudest achievement to date?

My proudest achievement to date would have to be completing the south snowdonia 325km ultramarathon back in 2022.

What does a typical training week look like for you?

Depending on the race or event that I am preparing for, my training weeks can vary. Typically if I don't have a race or event in the diary, a typical week may look a little something like this: 3 strength sessions, 3 runs (easy, speed, long), 1 boxing, or Hyrox session, and 1 hot yoga session.

Our brand mantra is Better Never Stops - What does Better Never Stops mean to you?

Better Never Stops is having a strong mindset and focus to live your life in a way that allows you to become a better version of yourself in all aspects of your life, whether that’s in your chosen sport, career, or personal life. Everyday is a brand new opportunity to improve and be better than you were yesterday. Better Never Stops.

What is the one motto you live by?

Pressure is a privilege.

What is your secret to staying motivated?

There’s no secret, just an unstoppable amount of drive and determination to achieve nothing but success from my life.

How do you overcome setbacks?

Knowing that the comeback will always be stronger than the setback.

How important is mindset in training?

Mindset in training is key to achieving your goals. In fitness and sports there are no quick fixes. It takes a lot of hard work and time to become great at your chosen sport, to build that muscular physique or to lose the weight that you want to lose in the gym, which is why having a strong mindset coupled with a determination to achieve your goals is so important.

What goals are you setting yourself for the coming months?

Switching my focus back to distance running as I prepare for the New York marathon in November. Sub 2:50 is the goal.

What three pieces of advice would you give to coaches starting out in their career?

Allow your personality to shine through.

Treat all members and clients as individuals, not robots.

Continually develop your knowledge and enjoy the process.

What product attributes do you look for in your training wear?

As my training is so varied, it’s important that my training wear is durable, breathable, and can be worn across all conditions.
