As the end of 2018 approaches, we are all provided with the opportunity to step away from the daily grind and think back on what the year has brought. As two brothers who have started a business together, our lives have changed dramatically and the holiday season is a welcome opportunity to finally slow down and refocus on the things that are most important…
Spending time with family and away from the cut and thrust of the business somehow makes it easier to really reflect on where we are on our journey as a brand. The respite is also the perfect opportunity to recharge and prepare ourselves mentally, physical and emotionally for the year ahead - one which we expect to be very exciting indeed.
Our goal when we launched Castore was first and foremost to create higher quality sportswear for athletes who demanded the very best. This has since evolved into a burning obsession and a desire that drives us every single day, as well as being the foundation for our now ever-present brand ethos Better Never Stops. Our commitment to engineering, technology and innovation is the primary factor behind the success of Castore to date and has undoubtedly proven our original view that there remains a huge opportunity for a brand to create the most advanced sportswear in the world. This ethos remains at the core of our business and will remain so for many years to come.
Our second key ambition was to build a brand that connected with and inspired people on a deeper level that purely product. We want Castore to represent not only exceptional product quality but also the sacrifice, dedication and ambition that all true athletes understand as a key requirement to achievement. Only the very best brands manage to connect with people at an emotional level and whilst we still have a long way to go, we truly believe Castore has the potential to be such a brand and look forward to next year sharing with you some of the incredibly exciting initiatives we have planned as we look to achieve this goal.
Whilst both of us were brought up in a household that didn't allow self congratulation, it is nonetheless important to note the milestones of the past year.
The resounding success our entirely waterproof Garcia hoody was just one of many product launches that exceeded even our greatest expectations and caused us major challenges simply to keep enough stock to satisfy demand. Launching Castore on Mr Porter, the global leading luxury retailer provided a major external verification of what we are building and sitting alongside some of the biggest brands in the world has gives us a taste of how it feels to be in such distinguished company. Next year, we will continue on this path and partner with some of the world’s leading retailers including Harrods. 2018 has also seen a significant enhancement in Castore’s international presence and we have now shipped into over 60 countries around the world. Connecting with so many people around from such a range of backgrounds truly is special to us and provides great inspiration for the years ahead.
As anyone who has attempted to achieve something special will attest, nothing truly worth having is ever built without major sacrifices and setbacks along the way and Castore has had our fair share of both. Some of the challenges we have faced in the last year will not be easily forgotten - however, the emotions that come with having the support of customers and the inspiration people take from Castore truly is unforgettable and for that we are eternally grateful to each and every one of you. We write these words now with the utmost pride and sincerity for without the support of customers, none of of dreams would have come true.
Whilst looking back is great, we are even more excited about what lies ahead - if we achieve what we hope to in the next twelve months, Castore will leapfrog into a completely new stratosphere as a brand. Whilst we embrace the steady grind of building a company, all great brands share a common characteristic in having the ability to capitalise on milestone opportunities as they present themeless and if we are to achieve our ambition of Castore being talked about in such company, this is something we must too achieve. Keep your eyes open next year…..
