Athletic Club Women's 25/26 Retro Shirt

Athletic Club will mark La Liga's retro matchday in a special kit inspired by the early 1970s. The redesigned shirt, with a closed collar in red and white, together with black shorts and classic striped socks, will be worn on matchday 31 against Villarreal CF at San Mamés.

This tribute marks a defining period for the Club (1970-1975), shaped by milestones such as the restoration of the Athletic Club name, the opening of the Lezama facilities and the reaffirmation of the Club's sporting philosophy despite the arrival of foreign players in the league.

This era also brought the 1973 Copa title, with legends such as Iribar, Txetxu Rojo, Iñaki Sáez and Antón Arieta, as well as "Operación Regreso", which brought several Basque players back from other La Liga clubs.

Athletic also celebrated its 75th anniversary in 1973 with an international tournament at a renovated San Mamés, unveiling the new East Stand along with new communication initiatives including the club magazine and the matchday programme.

It was a period of social and cultural change, marked by growing calls for female membership and the cultural revival of the Basque language, symbolised by Mikel Laboa's song "Txoria txori".
